Graffiti Removal Project
A Late Addition

The Latest Edition
Some good work has begun on asking the city to remove the graffiti from the Cypress Street Overpass.
* Jessica Klein called the Graffiti Removal Hotline.
* Nada called Councilman Jackson and left a message.
* Irene spoke with Lt. Schiavulli about the graffiti removal and asked him to see what he can do.
* Irene e-mailed Dir. ONS Rita Murphy about helping with the project.

South Side Down Graffiti
That's a good, strong start.
Now we need to follow through on a weekly basis with follow up phone calls and e-mails.

On Street Level
I believe "Day One" of the Graffiti Removal Project was the day I posted the first picture, September 5, 2005, which makes this Day 15 of the Project.
Let's track the chronology and the time and effort of this project, from Sept. 5th, to the date of the graffitti's removal, along with each effort used to further the project.
Comment Here, for updates.

I followed up the telephone call to Councilman Jackson with an email, reiterating the need for prompt removal of gang related graffiti from a neighborhood plagued by random acts of violence, i.e. Pleasant Street Shooting. Will keep you posted on any response.

ONS Dir. Rita Murphy promptly responded to my e-mail request for help. She wrote," I spoke this morning with Al Buco from the Department of Public Property, who is handling graffiti requests. I gave him your e-mail and asked that he follow thru. It is my understanding that we have a temporary manpower shortage presently, but I will make sure that I monitor this request.
Irene, I also alerted Councilman Jackson this afternoon so he may help as well.”
Thanks, Rita. We know we can always count on you. At my request, Lt. David Schiavully also placed a call to Graffiti Hot Line and asked them to remove the graffiti from the overpass wall as soon as possible stressing the importance of this location to the Mt. Hope community. Thanks, David.
