Communication Solutions
Greetings everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Is there a spot on the website with contact info for every department, official, etc. for us to call when we see an infrastructure or criminal problem? If not could we start a list and maybe print it up for everyone to put on their refigerator? At the meeting I was psyched to hear all these names of people with the answers and I look forward to contacting them.
I saw something about M.O.N.S. but there was no contact info on it. There were also links to gvt. websites.
Also, I strolled the neighborhood the other day taking notes of fences, lots, and sidewalk problems. Is there a spot to log these into the website?
That mural has got to go. It's so ridiculous I can't even believe it was put there in the first place. Question: Why can't we just get some paint, sand it down and do it ourselves? Do we need permission and how do we get it? This is definitely a quick solution for our 2005 summer.
EVERYONE GO TO THE TRASH PICK UP ON JULY 18th!!!!

For anyone that is interested...
I have a hard copy of the Tax Assessor's Database of all Mt. Hope properties. I will bring it to the next meeting.

Kev...
I agree that we shouldn't have to wait for approval to repaint that mural...however, I sent Ms. Murphy the following letter in order to give the City a chance to respond to our request. I suggest we get the sand and paint ready.
Nadezhda
Copy of letter to Ms. Murphy dated May 24, 2005:
Dear Ms. Murphy:
I am forwarding a copy to you of the last e-mail I submitted to the Office of Neighborhood Services, on behalf of the Greater Camp Concerned Citizens, requesting permission to paint over the mural at Billy Taylor Park.
Copy of E-Mail:
"This is the second time I have contacted this office via e-mail concerning the drug-culture inspired mural at Billy Taylor Park. I am writing on behalf of the Greater Camp Concerned Citizens. We are seeking city permission to paint over this decaying and disturbing mural. After many attempts to contact the Mayor's Office, the Park's Department, or anyone who will listen, we have still received no response. I sent a hard copy via US mail of my last correspondence to Rita Murphy.
If we do not hear from you, we shall assume that we can repaint the wall at the park to more accurately reflect the positive neighborhood spirit evident in Mt. Hope. "
I await your response to this request. If we do not hear from your office within two weeks from receipt of this letter, we will go ahead and repaint the mural.
Thank you for your cooperation,

In the comming days we will be developing a systematic, comprehensive plan for addressing all our issues with the appropriate city departments, rather than using a scattershot, individualistic approach. You will be on our Action Committee e-mail list and will get the talking points, for letters, with addresses, snail & electronic.
This website is pretty comprehenisve. VITAL CITY LINKS and Government Websites should take you to any department you may need. The links are worth exploring to learn your way around them.
You can compile your list of infrastructure and other problems by clicking on the comments tab at the bottom of your entry. As they accumulate I will transfer them to their own entry for others to add to.
Welcome aboard, Kev, glad to have you with us.
