Firemen Working on Knowles Street

A sky burned
not the first
smoke plumed
lungs in reverse.

These men went
into where
there is
no there
there.

To hear that Steinway sound.

Through the roof
woof and warp
a dog barks.

Back at the station
Chili burbles ready
For another round.
